As the writs open for the Council President Election in the country, students at Milne Bay Teachers College are also invited to submit their nominations for the Student Representative Council (SRC).
Student leadership plays a crucial role in higher education institutions by addressing student matters related to academics, discipline, recreation, welfare, and overall student affairs within the learning community.
The key responsibility of the SRC is to provide leadership that drives positive change and improvement while promoting inclusivity, fairness, a spirit of learning, and a sense of belonging among students.
Today, April 25th, the SRC Advisor, Mr. Elliot Modoyoyu, conducted an awareness session for students during the Pastoral Care period from 11:10 AM to 12:10 PM. Using a participatory approach, staff members were engaged to answer questions aimed at clarifying various aspects of the SRC, including:
- The roles of SRC leaders
- Key responsibilities and expectations
- Membership structure
- Lecturers' mentoring roles
- Event timelines
